Three of the best... burgers!

You can't beat a good burger, can you? I'm not a salad type of girl - I'll go for a big, fat juicy burger every time. I scoured the area looking for the best ones so I could tell you all about them... what a hardship!
1. THE FERRY'S WEST COUNTRY BEEF BURGER with onion, gherkin, mustard mayo, cheese, relish and frites, £10.95. I added bacon for an extra £1. Delicious and hearty. Quite sloppy but so good. 8/10www.theferry.co.uk

2. THE WHITE OAK'S LOBSTER & CRAB BURGER WITH CHIPS, £25. Very, very tasty,
even if a little overpriced. One wasn't enough! 9/10www.thewhiteoak.co.uk

3. THE FEATHERS' GOURMET STACKED

BURGER, £9.99. A 6oz rump steak burger, bacon, chestnut mushrooms, mature Cheddar and a free-range egg in a toasted brioche bun with triple cooked chips and hand-battered onion rings. My mouth is watering just thinking back to it. The Feathers also does my favourite burger of all time, a veggie pesto one. But if it's meat you're after, this is my close second. 10/10. www.

Raspberry bomb

Defrost 1 large pack of frozen
raspberries in the bottom of a
serving dish. Whip 1 large pot of whipping cream. As it starts to firm, add 1 small tub of natural yoghurt. Finish whisking to firm, but still soft. Add sugar to taste. Spoon
the cream mixture over the raspberries. Sprinkle brown sugar over the top to decorate. Enjoy!

KILN CAFE, HENLEY-ON-                                                  THAMES This place is                                                        ideal for a rainy day.                                                        We picked a mug and
                                                 a trinket box to paint.
Snacks and drinks are

on offer, or you can bring your own. I quite fancy going back one evening with some friends and being 'crafty' with a bottle of wine - I could make some great gifts for Christmas!

THE CRAZY BEAR BAR & THAI RESTAURANT,

        BEACONSFIELD

So I was looking for somewhere glitzy, where
I could finally donn my sparkly gold dress that had been hanging up in my wardrobe for far too long... and we picked the perfect place. The Crazy Bear is rather decadent and at odds with its quaint exterior - think velvets, animal skin, gold leaf, mirrors, fur, crystals, leather... Flamboyant, yes, but it somehow works. We kicked off the evening with a poolside glass of champers, then ventured to the Thai restaurant and sampled the Green Cotswold Chicken Breast Curry - the best I've ever had, which was a relief as it was pricey!
If eccentric is your thing, it's well worth a visit, especially the bar. And if you go on a Wednesday, all Champagne is half price. Oh, and the loos are amazing. Great for a girly gossip!

Easter Chocolate Cake

Serves 6-8

INGREDIENTS

8oz butter

8oz caster sugar

4 eggs

6oz self-raising flour

2oz cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

A little milk

3/4 pint of double cream

4tbsp strawberry jam

For the decoration

Cake board

6oz of butter

8tbsp icing sugar

2tbsp cocoa powder

14 two bar KitKats

1 Shredded Wheat biscuit

10 candy flower decorations

1 large bag of chocolate eggs

METHOD
Cream the butter and sugar in a food processor until it’s light and fluffy. Add the eggs to the mix one at a time. Whisk for about three minutes, then sift in the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Add in a little milk until the mixture is a soft consistency. Pour the cake mix into
the prepared baking tins, even out and place in the oven for 45 minutes at 180 degrees celsius/gas mark 4. Meanwhile, whisk the double cream until it is thick in texture. Check the cakes are cooked by inserting a knife into the centre – it should come out clean. Remove them from the tins, place on a wire rack and allow to cool. Place one of the sponges on the cake board top-side down and spread the cream over the top. Next, spread some jam over one side of the other sponge and place on top of the base. In a bowl, add the butter, icing sugar and cocoa, then cream together. With a spatula, cover the entire cake with an even layer of butter icing, making sure all the sides are covered. Now stick the KitKat fingers vertically around the edge of the cake. Once the outside edge is covered tightly, wrap the cake with cling film so the fingers mould into the icing and leave to set for 20 minutes in the fridge. Once chilled, sprinkle some broken up Shredded Wheat around the outside. Using some butter icing, stick the candy flowers evenly spaced around the cake edge. Next, cover the cake with chocolate eggs. On the base of the cake board, add a blob of the butter icing and place two of the eggs together, then sprinkle with some more Shredded Wheat. Chill the cake in the fridge to set for 30 minutes. Finally, wrap a ribbon around the cake and serve at room temperature for some chocolate Easter fun!
