Emma-Jane

Emma-Jane Taylor is a very busy lady! She is married, has a six-year-old daughter, one dog, two cats, three fish and a hamster! She also started StageWorks in 2001, founded NutritiousWorks
in 2013 and is an Insanity UK Trainer. How does she do it all?
I just had to find out...

I have danced all my life and I have always had a passion for performing. I used to be a Cabaret Dancer with Cameo – we worked all over the UK, sometimes overseas. When I took a step back from dancing professionally, I decided to share my creativity and experiences, so I began StageWorks in Henley. We started out with a class of 18 students and three staff. Now we have expanded into Cookham, Caversham and Benson, and work with both children and adults. It's fantastic that StageWorks now has over 400 students, who are all developing their confidence and self-belief.

Some of our students might go on to to perform professionally and some come to StageWorks to enjoy the performing arts. We have a young boy who
is working on Broadway now in Matilda
Seeing my students perform in the West End, on TV or in films is always such a rewarding experience, but so is seeing a shy student stand on stage singing their heart out.

It is always advisable to gain as many qualifications as you can if you want
to work in the performing arts – ISTD Dance, LAMDA qualifications, singing grades... I think you
have to have passion for anything and everything you do in life, enjoy it, grab hold of it and ride the wave and make the most of it for as long as you can. Don't let anyone tell you you can't. Because you can if you have passion, drive and enthusiasm. I always see the good in a negative situation should one arise, and find a way to make the negative situations come good.
I look up to my father, Alan. He has kept me grounded, taught me to be me and to never doubt myself.

I love the creativity side of my job, producing shows and seeing the students gain so much happiness from their experiences with us.

I am also the owner of NutritiousWorks Ltd, a Personal Trainer/INSANITY instructor and Nutrition and Weight Management Advisor. I organise (with my business partner) the UK INSANEATHONS and I do a lot of running – this year,
I am booked in to do Tough Mudder and the Reading Half Marathon. I also love animals and would run Tiggywinkles if I could!

NutritiousWorks is for anyone who wants to refresh their lifestyle, maintain their exercise regime or simply to understand what they need to eat/exercise and how to balance energy levels. There is no faddy dieting at NutritiousWorks.
It balances energy and helps you understand how you can eat using the eatwell plate model and by balancing your carbohydrate, protein and fat levels – it is
all healthy!

My INSANITY classes at Henley INSANIACS are not for the faint-hearted! They are for those who want to get fit, lose body fat and look great. They're for anyone serious about making changes to their lives and focusing on how best to lose body fat.

Phew, worn out just hearing about it all?! Working for yourself is fun but hard work. You have to be driven. I worked seven days a week (and still do at times), 24 hours a day when I first started. I still work hard but now I allow myself time off and rest days when there aren't shows or Insaneathons happening!
