Art goddess!

Local mum Louise Kelly has been working hard this year to
get her art out into the world and is putting on a pop-up art exhibition in Maidenhead on 2nd August. She'd love you to go
and see it! I caught up with her to hear about her work...

Louise Kelly moved to Maidenhead from the hills of Lancashire as a child.

She now has a 22-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter. For over 10 years, Louise has worked as a children and young people's therapist and meditation/ yoga teacher, mostly in schools and nurseries. She teaches classes called Creative Children's Yoga. But Louise has always wanted to explore her full capabilities as an artist, and it was only in the past year, since she joined a local art group called Whitecroft Studios, that she has made space in her life as a working woman and mum to immerse herself in her talent. Now she is committed to making art the main focus of her working life.

Tell us about your art, Louise...

I love to use rich, bright colours to create paintings to uplift and inspire the viewer. My work can be surrealist, abstract or figurative. I have drawn and painted as far back as I can remember. I took A level art and have studied various painting courses over the years, notably one taught by wonderful local artist Alison Adcock. I am inspired by nature, beauty, the mystical – and I love to explore metaphors and archetypes of the subconscious mind. Sometimes the layout of new paintings arrive fully formed when I am meditating, like dreams waiting to be deciphered. I sometimes use gold leaf and light-reflecting resin to help the images zing out into the space even more! All my paintings can also be bought as limited-edition giclee prints, which use vibrant archival inks on velvet-like paper.

I am so excited about my exhibition, Panthers And Goddesses! It's at my house, 7 Wellington Road, Maidenhead SL6 6DH, on Sunday 2nd August.
Anyone is very welcome to drop in between 11am and 6pm and admission is free. I am exhibiting nine original oil and acrylic paintings from my collection, "Explorations Of Colour And Metaphor", which are also available to order as beautiful giclee prints. People will also see my range of A4 mounted prints
made from vibrant ink drawings of "Elemental Goddesses". I have a brilliant soundtrack lined up and there will be Pimms and strawberries too!

I'd love to hear what people have to say about my art.

Looking to the future, I'm hoping to spend more time on beaches with friends and loved ones, and to travel the world, painting as I go.
