Hi Ross. Tell me about you and your family....

My family have been in the Hair and Beauty industry for over 45 years – both my

parents, Roger and Lynda, and my uncle have made hairdressing their full-time

professions, opening four salons that have become very well established. Other

members of our family have become beauty therapists to complement the growing demand for beauty services within our family salons.

   I have worked within the family businesses for over 15 years with a view to

expanding the business. My latest venture was the creation, implementation and

launch of Ross Poole Hair, Nails and Beauty salons successfully within a well-

known corporate environment, servicing over 6,000 employees within six months

of opening. Throughout my career I have always looked for new and exciting opportunities whilst supporting our family businesses.

Thank you. The idea behind my new venture will be to provide an opulent setting for my clients whilst they enjoy some well-earned time away from their busy lifestyles. My clients will be offered a full range of hair, nail and beauty services in a calm, relaxing and tranquil environment by my professional and experienced team. It is very important to me and my team that your visit to Ross Poole in Cookham will be an experience that will be relaxing and one that will leave you feeling that you have been the main focus of our attention.

 

Why Cookham?

Cookham is a beautiful village with an amazingly friendly atmosphere. Whilst

looking for premises for my next salon, I found Cookham to be very warm and

welcoming. It was a pure delight to have friendly people stop and take the time to say good morning – extraordinary. I wanted to experience working in this close

community to create a small but beautiful luxury salon for the local residents,

where I can demonstrate my creativity and experience. I have always been

fortunate to have worked with amazing people, products, and a loyal and motivated team. For me, creating a smaller but luxurious salon for my clientele will enable a good work/life balance, which I feel is important not only for myself, but for my husband, Darren, and my valuable team.

What kind of treatments are you offering?

We will be offering a full range of services for ladies and gentlemen ranging from cut and blow-drys, colour services to full-head hair extensions. Our Nail Bar will provide manicures, pedicures, nail extensions etc. using either polish or shellac. Our full range of beauty services will include Environ facial skin analysis events, treatments and courses, which are truly amazing, in addition to our relaxing massages, waxing, threading, tinting, eyelash extensions and tanning treatments. We will also be offering a full range of products to compliment your treatments, so that you can continue your recommended hair or beauty regime in-between appointments.

   Our wedding hair, nails, beauty and make-up packages will be tailored to suit your every need for your very special day – we will be more than prepared to be part of your overall wedding planning and, if required, attend your wedding venue on the day if you so wish. Driving past Cliveden to Cookham on my daily journey to the salon reminds me of my own wedding day there in 2012.

What's your background – have you always been interested in doing this?

I completed my advanced cutting and colouring qualifications with Toni
& Guy in their London Academy, I then continued my training and development at Charles Worthington and then completed an advanced course with Balmain hair extensions. Attending regular advanced colour and cutting courses with L’Oréal gives me the confidence to retain and provide on-trend techniques.

   I love fashion and the challenges of standing out as an individual and being

different from others. I have been involved in TV documentaries, photo shoots and catwalk shows with Vivian Westwood. I have run workshops and believe in

always keeping my on-trend skills updated, and encourage and support my team to do the same.

   Building my career has been an amazing and rewarding journey. The next chapter will be the creation and expansion of Ross Poole hairdressing academy in partnership with my good friends Mike Najmi and Georgia Misioti, qualifying

stylists from NVQ level 1 through to NVQ level 3. These courses have already

started running in Guernsey, Newbury, Salisbury, Reading, Brentford-Kew and

soon to be Cookham.

   What I love most about the business is making a difference to my clients, and this can be achieved from a blow-dry, full restyle through to a complete colour change. If my clients feel special, then I have achieved my goal and everyone feels good.

What makes you different to the other salons around this area? 

Vision. I have spent a long time looking for a location where I feel I can expand

and grow not only my expectations of my skills, but the expectations of what is

possible for my clients and their wellbeing. This may be through a good skin care

regime created through our Environ program or a hair consultation to improve the quality and style of their hair. Whichever service is required it will be exclusive to the individuals' needs with a great relaxing experience. Myself and my team will want all our clients to feel the best they possibly can.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Fashion and my clients are a great inspiration for me. Creating cuts and colours to match an individual’s personality is highly rewarding.
