Nisha Anil
You are currently starring in Aladdin – what are you most enjoying about the experience?
Playing Princess Jasmine. I am enjoying performing so close to home, working and learning from such a fabulous cast.
Do you ever get nervous on stage or in the public spotlight?
Sometimes and sometimes not, depends on the job and how I'm feeling on the day. Nerves are a complex thing. Being nervous is not necessarily a negative association, it can also be deemed an excitement, an adrenalin rush to perform, to do a good job to the best of your ability. And that 'kick'
is needed to be on it!
What are your other plans for Christmas this year?
I still have to post my cards and enjoy a lovely Christmas dinner at home with my family! This year I may not be doing the cooking – I usually do the cooking.
Can you tell us a bit about your presenting and acting work for CBeebies Worldwide? What do you find most interesting about it?
So aside from presenting Same Smile and guest presenting on the UK Channel, I am the channel host Presenter for CBeebies Asia, which goes out to the majority of Asian Countries around the world. And, of course, I am also an actress so grown-ups can see me in other genres live locally and on TV! I will be guest appearing on Hollyoaks very soon!
What are your goals for the future?
More performing and acting on TV and live theatre work. It pulses through my veins.
Who is your idol/inspiration?
I don't actually have one idol or inspiration – I admire many people and their qualities. I am always seeking to learn from those who I work with too. Mainly, I have a little mantra, words written to me in a letter from my mother to basically aim high and 'think big'.
What do you most enjoy about working in Maidenhead, and living in Berkshire?
I am working locally and that is amazing in itself. As a performer, I am often travelling far from home for work so this opportunity is just lovely to be close-to-home at Christmas time.

And a few reviews of the show from children in Cookham…

Joshua, aged 10, said: 'Aladdin is a great family show with lots of amusing
jokes. My brother, Jack, aged seven, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to see a show locally this Christmas. We liked the characters,
the choreography, the costumes and the songs – well done, everyone! My favourite characters were Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and the Genie, but everyone performed very well. The Genie was an amazing dancer and he was very charismatic. It was fantastic going on stage with Wishee Washee, who was hilarious – I had to sing Wiggly Woo with the other children and tell my mum
and dad I loved them, which was very funny! I did blush though…'

Isobella, aged nine, said: 'I think Aladdin was one of the best performances I have ever experienced. I have been to a lot. I loved Wishee Washee. He was very funny and made everybody laugh. I loved going up on stage, it was very exciting! Especially to be on stage with Wishee Washee because he was my favourite character. The young performers were really amazing and next year I am going to audition! Even my mum and dad were laughing throughout the pantomime. They really enjoyed it too. I would say to anybody thinking about going to definitely go. It was a fun experience for the whole family to enjoy. I must say the littlest girl with blonde hair who was the head cutter was amazing specially because she was such a young age.'
