Well done to all the December Daily Dashers

Well done to all the December Daily Dashers. You did it! And what an achievement. Walking, jogging or sprinting three miles every day for the whole month of December, despite the dark, cold weather and amid all the festivities is no mean feat. For the third year in a row, Cookham parents Jackie and Mark Smith braved the elements and encouraged as many people as possible to attempt the challenge to raise money for the charity Sue Ryder. Sadly, Jackie lost both of her parents to cancer a few years ago. Jackie says: 'During the final months of my dad's life, he was cared for by a Sue Ryder hospice. He received this care for free, and the doctors and nurses who looked after him there were totally amazing. Since then, I have wanted to try and do something for the charity Sue Ryder in return – hence the DDD.' The challenge has grown year on year, and this time around, there were more than 200 runners.

The Dashers turned out in force at The Crown on the Moor in Cookham to run the final Dash together on the morning of 31st December. Even the children joined in by doing a muddy Diddy Dash. After everyone had crossed the finish line and received their medals, much deserved bacon butties were enjoyed by all.

Thank you to everyone who has sponsored the Dashers, raising £12,000 for Sue Ryder.
