Unlocking success at the Media Hub

Everyone wants to achieve success, but what does that mean? And how do you achieve it

whilst being true to yourself?

On Tuesday, 24th January at 8pm, Presentation and Confidence Coach Helen Foster will be

sharing her 7 secrets to finding personal success at the Media Hub, the Southeast’s leading

networking group for media professionals.

Her motivational talk, “Being Genuine: It’s OK to be real”, will take place in the stylish

surroundings of the Bel and the Dragon in Cookham, which is one of the oldest coaching

inns in England, and has been hosting Media Hub events since 2013.

“I specialise in Confidence Coaching – helping people to overcome the issues that are

stopping them being the absolute best they can be. I can’t give you all the answers, but I do

believe that you can find them for yourself. You just need the time and space to do that,”

says Helen, who worked as BBC journalist for over 20 years before becoming a confidence

coach.

When Helen decided to have a career change, the former BBC Radio5 Live producer and

reporter says that journalism was no longer ticking all the boxes for her, whereas coaching

did. She says that the skills she had as a journalist helped her to become a coach:

“Having worked as a journalist , I am naturally curious about the world I live in and

interested in other people’s stories. I am also used to listening closely to what people say,

observing body language and noting what doesn't get said.”

After Helen’s presentation next Tuesday, media professionals from a plethora of

backgrounds, including TV, radio, print, PR, marketing, theatre and film, will have the

opportunity to catch up over a social drink and enjoy some canapes provided by Bel and the

Dragon Head Chef Ronnie Kimbugwe.

Over the past three years, the Hub has welcomed an impressive line-up of guest speakers,

including Theresa May, Olympic gold medallist Adrian Moorhouse and Click reporter Dan

Simmons. The networking group has also organised a number of media workshops where

members can develop new skills – these have ranged from TV presenting and film-making to

LinkedIn and SEO.

“I think that what our members value the most is meeting up with other media professionals

in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment – many of our colleagues work from home and

although we are all connected through Social Media these days, you can’t beat a face to

face meeting,” says Media Hub Co-founder Sarah Parfitt.
