Cookham actress stars in Xmas theatre show

Local mum Amber Edlin, who runs Sparky's Drama, will be appearing as tap teacher Mavis Turner in the Mill at Sonning's Christmas production of Stepping Out, a comedy play by Richard Harris. It runs from 26th November to 16th January. And get your tickets quick - they're selling fast!

Amber says: 'We're having such a giggle in rehearsals. The play is wonderfully light and funny. You also see the other side of each character going to the tap class, and together with the hilarious comedy you have the often bitter reality for these characters. It's feel-good and touching at the same time. And, of course, there's tap dancing! What's not to love?!'

Amber admits she has a lot to learn but is loving getting stuck into developing a character again for the stage. She adds: 'I'm playing alongside a brilliant cast of professionals – some well-known faces. As a drama tutor, I think it's great to keep my acting career going and stay in touch with the business. Obviously I love working, too! I recently worked on an advert for Villa Plus (a two-week shoot in Portugal followed by the voiceover in London), another commercial due for online release shortly, plus a short film playing a revengeful mother by a new up-and-coming-director called Tin Zanic.'

On top of that, Amber is also running some vocal workshops for the team at The Fat Duck restaurant in Bray. Wow, she's a busy lady!

'I do like to keep busy and creative! But what better way to tutor than by passing on knowledge from recent professional experiences?'
