AZURE STUDENTS SELECTED TO JOIN ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET
Two students from local Performing Arts School, Azure Theatre School, have gained places with the English Youth Ballet for their production of Swan Lake.
The English Youth Ballet, which is one of the largest ballet companies in the UK, was looking for 100 young male and female dancers (aged 8–18) to perform corps de ballet and soloist roles in the show alongside its eight professional principal dancers.
Helena Kennedy, eight, from Cookham, and Francesca Mennone, 13, from Burnham, both auditioned successfully at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking, recently, and will perform in the production of Swan Lake at the theatre on 14th-15th November 2014.
Over the coming months, Helena and Francesca will be coached by, and then perform alongside, the English Youth Ballet's international principal artists.
Helena and Francesca's achievement marks the end of a very busy and exciting year of shows, galas and competitions for Azure Theatre School.
Azure runs classes in Maidenhead, Marlow, Cookham and the new term starting in September will see the addition of ballet, modern, tap and Stage School classes at Burnham Youth Centre. The school welcomes students of all abilities and offers free trial classes.
