INTRODUCTION TO SELF-PROTECTION
Have you ever wondered how you'd react if you were attacked? Don't leave it to chance... This is your opportunity to train locally under one of the best self- protection courses in the country; it might just save your life!
The Adult Introduction to Self-Protection Course will take place at Holy Trinity School, Cookham, on Saturday 1st March, hosted by Matthew Collins from The Samurai Fitness Company and led by Mr Malcolm Jones, one of the most respected self-protection experts in the country. He has taught self-protection in schools, prisons and you may recognise him from being TV.
An Introduction to Self-Protection is the first course in a series that aims to build your awareness, confidence and ability to deal with aggressive situations and physical attacks.
The series is focused on making things as physically and emotionally realistic as it can get! It deliberately takes you out of your comfort zone so you can experience, to a limited degree, some of the emotions you are likely to incur should you be in the dreadful situation of facing an aggressor. The course builds your confidence progressively. You initially learn awareness of your environment, how to deflate confrontational situations and to use your body and language to prevent attacks. By the end you will learn how, when and where to strike to debilitate the attacker should the former pacifying techniques be ineffective. You will demonstrate the striking techniques against a fully padded assailant who will not stop their attack until you have hit them hard enough to incapacitate them. The attacker will be incredibly aggressive but with your training and the help of the coach, you will control your reaction and gain a huge confidence boost from realising the effectiveness of your new skills. Due to the explicit language used in the course it is not appropriate for those aged under 16. All those aged between 16 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The course is ideal for those without any martial arts experience or for those who want to see how effective their training is in an adrenalised and aggressive scenario.
