A taste of Africa
Tonight I went to A Taste of Africa, a fantastic fundraising event for Africa Turns Green and Conservation Through Public Health at Herries School in Cookham Dean. One of Uganda's leading vets, Dr Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka (pictured), has dedicated her life to protecting mountain gorillas [most are facing extinction in Africa] and gave a speech about how the charity has linked public health with the conservation of these amazing animals. While we sipped wine and ate canapes, the Herries School choir entertained us by singing African songs and local band Africa Junction performed. The charity raised £1,060 on the night. and their work with gorillas has inspired us all. A big congrats to my friend Sarah Parfitt who organised the event. www.africaturnsgreen.org. Thank you to Mohammad Sabahi for the photo.
