We are a traditional village pre-school in Cookham Dean, Berkshire for children between 2½ and 5 years old. Our aim is to help every child flourish and fulfil their own potential – to be confident, sociable and happy. We provide four-hour morning sessions, 9am–1pm, five days a week and run during term time. Your child may attend the days of your choice subject to availability and it is not necessary for each child to attend every day of the week. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. 

  We believe children learn through play and provide a wide range of experiences in a safe, caring environment. Each child is treated with respect and as an individual. Through praise we hope to develop their creativity, imagination, ability to socialise, communicate and express themselves, while encouraging their personal and physical development.We are registered for a maximum of 24 children and our high ratio of staff to children (1:5) means that all children receive lots of individual attention.

 We are a registered charity and here for the community. Parental involvement is encouraged, with any profits made re-invested in the school.

 We offer a flexible funding system whereby government funding is provided for the first 15 hours per week from the term after your child’s third birthday.

 Each day comprises a mixture of play and some structured activity. We offer a wide variety of activities and resources:

* Art and Creativity: painting, cutting, printing, play dough, sand and water

* Music, singing and dance

* Dressing up and role play: dressing up clothes, telephone kiosk and play-kitchen

* Play-sets, puzzles and construction toys

* Physical – slide, trampoline, bikes and group games

* Outside play area, regular country walks and nature trips, strawberry picking and teddy bears picnics among others

Structured activities include story time, music, circle time, phonics and cooking. For the over fours we offer small work groups to prepare your child for primary school.
